Berkeley Bowl's Meat Department
In our Meat Department you’ll find a remarkable selection of beef, poultry, pork and lamb as well as the benefit of a full-service meat counter. That means you – the customer – decide exactly which cut of meat you’ll be taking home. That also means the expertise and knowledge of our staff is at your fingertips. Fire away with whatever questions you may have – what goes well with what, what type of cut is best for the meal you’re planning, how much will you need to serve so-many people – and our staff is sure to have an answer for you. Also, if you need anything out of the ordinary – a larger order or a special cut – our staff is again fully capable of meeting your needs.

When you see just how vast our selection is you’ll quickly appreciate the knowledge of our staff. But above all else we take great pride in having only the highest quality meat available. We have always only carried all natural meat. In addition, we feature choice and select grades of beef and a growing selection of organic meat products. Despite our commitment to quality our prices remain extremely competitive. Here is a quick outline of our entire repertoire:
Beef
Beef: We feature beef from Harris Ranch, Niman Ranch, Durham Ranch and Marin Sun and Estancia grass fed beef. Cuts include steak flank, beef shank, sirloin tip roast, chuck roast, London broil, filet mignon, tri tip, New York, flat iron and rib eye. We also have extra lean ground beef as well as other odds and ends such as ox tail and beef tongue. Lastly, we have standing rib roasting, skirt steak and butcher steak.
Poultry
Poultry: We carry Rosie organic free range chicken, Happy Dan's natural, Coastal Range Organics and Mary freerange and organic chicken. We offer whole chickens, bone-in and bone-out, parts and chicken bone for stock. During the holiday season we have Willie Bird turkey. We also have smoked turkey legs, game hen, stewing hen, peasant, capon, squab, duck and quail.
Sausage
Sausage: We carry sausage from Saags and Caggiano. We also proudly feature are own home made sausage. Made fresh daily and featuring a wide range of eclectic flavors, our sausage is among our most popular items at the meat counter.
Veal
Veal: We have veal loin chops, veal shoulder roast, veal shank (ossobuco), veal cutlets, scaloppini, veal stew, calf liver and ground veal.
Pork
Pork: We feature pork from Niman Ranch and Beeler and certified organic pork from Becker Lane. Our selections includes pork tenderloin, spare ribs, pork steak, pork chops, rib chops, kabobs, ham shank, baby back rib, porkloin roast, pork shoulder and butt roast.
We also carry: Organic and free range chicken. Grain-fed and a large varitiey of grass-fed beef including grass-fed organic beef. Large variety of organic pork, natural pork and commodity pork. Buffalo Venison, wild boar, ostrich, game birds and game meat available upon request.
