Welcome to the Wine & Beer Department! We feature a tremendous selection
emphasizing both quality and value. You'll find an amazing variety of
wine and beer including many hard to find brands and other exclusive lines
that were only produced in limited quantities.
Our wine section includes an overwhelming array of wines including all
of your favorite varietals, blends and an exceptional range of vintages.
We offer a diverse selection of wines from around the world including
France, Italy and Spain. Many other countries such as Chile, South Africa,
Australia and New Zealand are also well represented. Wines hailing from
California, and more specifically the surrounding Bay Area, constitute
another major portion of our wine selection. Many of these wines are being
acknowledged as among the best in the world. A quick glance in our wine
section and you'll discover a plethora of gems laying in wait.

Throughout the department you may see many wine labels that are unfamiliar.
But don't let that put you off. When choosing wines for the store, we
look specifically for wines that are interesting and unusual, and, for
the most part, from small wineries. Likewise you may see prices so low
they leave you second guessing. Again don't despair this is simply a result
of our unique approach. When a winery, importer or distributor either
buys too much of a wine or has the next vintage about to arrive, we are
able to negotiate great prices and pass the savings on to you. These close-out
deals make for some unbelievable bargains. But get them while they last,
by the time our supply runs out these deals are usually gone for good.
All that we've said about our
wine selection generally runs true for our beer too. That is, we feature
a robust variety of both foreign and domestic beers with a particular
emphasis on unique and locally crafted brews. As is the case with our
wines many of the microbrews we carry originate here in Northern California
and are increasingly of higher quality and distinction. Anderson Valley
and North Coast are brewed in Mendocino. Sierra Nevada and Butte Creek
are brewed in Chico. Butte Creek, along with Wolaver's, are brewed organically.
Lagunitas is from Petaluma and Pyramid resides right here in Berkeley.
And this is only a very small sample of everything we carry. In addition
to these microbrews we offer a wide range of traditionally crafted European
style beers. Initially these may seem out of place as they are typically
distributed in 750 ml bottles. Beers such as Quelque Chose and Chimay,
however, are consistently recognized as among the finest in the world.
Though Belgian Bocks, English Cream Ales and German wheat beers may at
first be unfamiliar to the palate in the long run they are well worth
becoming acquainted with.
Two final notes: we offer a 10% discount when you purchase a full case
(12 bottles) of wine and at this time we do not ship beer or wine.
