To provide prompt, friendly, helpful well-informed service to customers and assist in operations of natural foods deli to help meet department goals.


Reports to Deli Supervisor and Food Service Manager


Customer Service

  1. Fill customer orders in prompt, friendly, courteous manner.
  2. Prepare food as ordered by customers in an efficient
  3. Offer tastes, samples, and suggestions for purchase and ways to prepare products.
  4. Report customer suggestions, comments and complaints to Food Service Manager.
  5. Stock Food Service displays fully to give feeling of abundance.
  6. Ensure that all items are correctly priced and ingredients listed as appropriate.
  7. Operate and maintain scales.
  8. Assist customers with product questions and special orders.
  9. Be familiar with products and locations of items in the store overall in order to assist customers with questions.

Department Maintenance

  1. Maintain deli cases, displays, fresh food bars, soups, prep, and storage areas in clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, following established procedures.
  2. Pull short-date items and properly record as per cull policy.
  3. Clean up spills throughout the department and aisles as necessary.
  4. Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations maintaining correct temperatures for cooking, cooling, and storing according to CURFFL and HACCP.
  5. Alert Food Service Manager to low inventories or out-of-stocks of deli products and supplies.
  6. Use department equipment as intended and safely. Advise Food Service Manager of equipment in need of repair.
  7. Carry out established opening and closing procedures.
  8. Follow established guidelines when using knives, slicer, and all other equipment.
  9. Assist in monthly and quarterly inventories as needed.

Department Merchandising

  1. Maintain attractive displays in cases, shelves, and hot stations. Ensure all displays are fully stocked, rotated to ensure freshness and to give an appearance of abundance.
  2. Assist in executing promotions and specials as assigned.
  3. Ensure freshness by rotating, keeping batches separate by date.
  4. Ensure products are accurately signed with description and price. Maintain and store signage.


  1. Foodservice experience desirable.
  2. Possess desire to work with the public and provide excellent customer service.
  3. Ability to project friendly, outgoing personality.
  4. Ability to work as positive team member in a fast paced environment.
  5. Ability to handle multiple demands.
  6. Familiarity with natural food, nutrition and food sensitivities helpful.


  1. Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  2. Basic math skills required.
  3. Must be 18 years of age in order to operate equipment.
  4. Willingness to work with meat.
  5. Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  6. Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment.
  7. Able to understand  written and spoken English
  8. Willingness to work with sanitizers and cleaners.
  9. Able to work evenings and weekends.
