CAFE CLERK

Full Time

Location: 920 Heinz Ave

Purpose: To provide prompt, friendly, helpful well-informed service to customers and assist in operations of the Cafe to help meet department goals.

Status:  Reports to Café Supervisor and Food Service Manager

Responsibilities:

Customer Service

  • Fill customer orders in prompt, friendly, courteous manner.

  • Report customer suggestions, comments and complaints to Café supervisor.

  • Stock Cafe cases and displays fully to give feeling of abundance.  Ensure freshness by rotating, keeping batches separate by date.

  • Ensure all items are appropriately priced and signed.

  • Keep menu boards up to date.  Ensure that pricing is correct.

  • Assist customers with questions and special orders.

Department Maintenance

  • Pull short-date items and properly account for before disposal.

  • Maintain Café cases, displays, and prep and storage areas in sanitary and orderly condition, following established procedures.  Clean up spills.

  • Follow food safety and sanitation regulations maintaining correct temperatures cooking, cooling and storing according to CURFFL and HACCP.

  • Alert Café supervisor to low inventories and out-of–stocks of Café products and supplies.

  • Use department equipment safely and as intended.  Advise Food Service Manager of equipment repair needs.

  • Carry out established opening and closing procedures.

  • Follow established guidelines when using knives.

Food Preparation

  • Following specification of Café supervisor, prepare items as assigned.

  • Maintain proper storage and labeling procedures.

  • Pull pre-made productions from the kitchen and stock in Kitchen cases as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education/Training: High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • Licenses/Certifications:  Food

  • Experience: Food and customer service experience desired.

  • Knowledge/Skills:

    • Basic math skills required

    • Familiarity with natural foods, nutrition and food sensitives.

    • Understanding of written and spoken English

    • Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment.

    • Handle multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.

  • Other:

    • Must be 18 years old of age to operate equipment

    • Able to stand for extended periods of time.

    • Willingness to work with meat

    • Willingness to work with sanitizers and cleaners.

Pay range: $18.00 - $26.50 per hour
