Location: 920 Heinz Ave

Purpose:  To prepare food for the kitchen, deli, or café as well as catering and other special events.

Status:  Reports to Food Service Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow food safety and sanitation regulations maintaining correct temperatures cooking, cooling, and storing according to CRRFFL.

  • Prepares dishes, catering orders, and baked goods following recipe specifications as assigned by Food Service Manager. Take on additional tasks as assigned by the Food Service Manager.

  • Maintain proper storage and labeling procedures. Maintain accurate up-to-date records of ingredients transferred within, to and from stores. Pull short-date items and properly record and follow cull guidelines. Maintain logs.

  • Maintain prep and storage areas in sanitary and orderly condition, following established procedures. Use department equipment safely.  Advise Food Service Manager of equipment repair needs. Follow all other safety, storage, rotation, and labeling procedures.

  • Monitor inventory and reorder basic ingredients and supplies.

  • Carry out established opening and closing procedures.

  • Carry out established cleaning check lists.

  • Assist in inventory counts.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Training: High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • Licenses/Certifications: Food Safety Certification within 90 days of hire.

  • Knowledge/Skills:

    • Basic math skills required.

    • Able to understand written and spoken English.

    • Ability to handle multiple demands and follow through on commitments.

    • Familiarity with natural foods, nutrition and food sensitivities preferred.

    • Food handling, deli or restaurant experience preferred.

  • Other:

    • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

    • Able to stand for extended periods of time.

    • Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment. Must be 18 years of age to operate equipment.

    • Willingness to work with meat products.

    • Willingness to work in various temperatures.

    • Willingness to work with sanitizers and cleaners.

Pay range: $19.50 - $28.50 per hour
