CUSTOMER SERVICE CLERK

Full-Time

Purpose: To provide customers with prompt, friendly, helpful customer service. Assist and support store needs as needed.

Status: Reports to Cashier (Front End) Manager. Works closely with Cashier (Front End) Supervisor.

Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers directly regarding Berkeley Bowl inquiries. Offer customer suggestion or item request form as needed.
- Accept pre-orders on product from customers.
- Issue credit slips and product exchanges.

Familiarize store layout and product placement to be able to direct customers straightforwardly to product.
Present a professional, upbeat demeanor at all times using good communication skills and problem solving techniques. Refer unresolved questions to supervisor or manager in the department. Escalate any issue that you cannot control to Manger on Duty as necessary.
Direct incoming phone calls, including directing vendor inquires to appropriate managers or departments.
Follow security procedures. Alert Manager on Duty or Supervisor to potential shoplifters, disorderly customers, and other emergencies.
Keep customer service desk and related work areas tidy, including automotive wheelchair and service area. Collect accumulated product go-backs on and around workstation to correct bins.
Perform other tasks assigned by Front End Manager or Supervisor.
Perform opening and closing duties as directed.

Education/Training: High school diploma or GED preferred.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of products and trends in the natural food industry.
- Able to understand written and spoken English.
- Customer service experience preferred.
Other:
- Reliable and punctual with regards to schedule.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands.
- Able to stand for two or more hours at a time. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. using proper lifting techniques and be able to work with repetitive physical arm motions for most of the day.
- Must be 18 years of age.

Pay range: $19.00 - $27.50 per hour
