Location: 920 Heinz Ave 

 

Purpose:  To provide customers with prompt, friendly, helpful customer service. Assist and support store needs as needed.  

Status:  Reports to Cashier (Front End) Manager

 Works closely with Cashier (Front End) Supervisor

                

Responsibilities:

1.Customer Service

1. Provide excellent customer service.

2. Assist customers directly regarding Berkeley Bowl inquiries and familiarize store layout and product placement to be able to direct customers straightforwardly to product. 

3. Present a professional, upbeat demeanor at all times using good communication skills and problem solving techniques.

4. Refer unresolved questions to supervisor or manager in the department. Offer customer suggestion or item request form.

5. Escalate any issue that you cannot control to Manger on Duty as necessary.

6. Direct incoming phone calls.

7. Issue credit slips and product exchanges.

8. Accept pre-orders on product from customers.

9. Direct vendor inquires to appropriate managers or departments

10. Follow security procedures. Alert Manager on Duty or Supervisor to potential shoplifters, disorderly customers, and other emergencies.

2.Department Maintenance

1. While not busy with customers tidy customer service desk and clean area around workstation as necessary without supervisor’s direction.

2. Keep automotive wheelchair and service area clean.

3. Collect accumulated product go-backs on and around workstation to correct bins.

4. Perform other tasks assigned by Front End Manager or Supervisor.

5. Perform opening and closing duties as directed.

Qualifications:

• Education/Training: High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Licenses/Certifications:

• Experience: Customer service experience desired.

• Knowledge/Skills:

  •  Knowledge of products and trends in the natural food industry

  • Able to understand written and spoken English.

• Other:

  • Reliable and punctual with regards to schedule.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands.

  • Able to stand for two or more hours at a time.

  • Must be 18 years of age.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. using proper lifting techniques and be able to work with repetitive physical arm motions for most of the day.

Pay range: $18.00 - $26.50 per hour
