DAIRY CLERK
Full Time
Location: 2020 Oregon Street
​
Purpose: To order and merchandise products to meet department objectives for sales, margin, inventory turns and customer service.
Status: Reports to Dairy Manager.
Responsibilities:
Merchandising
​
-
Stock department area (shelves, bins, coolers, freezers), rotating to ensure freshness.

Work closely with Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to maintain attractive, fully stocked neatly organized displays and end caps working within monthly merchandising plan.

Provide product information to customers and staff.
-
Assist customers with product questions and special orders. Offer samples and suggestions for purchase and preparation and train others in the department to do so.

Provide direction and work with department staff in stocking and maintaining department.

Ensure accurate signage is in place.

Post “Temporarily Out of Stock” and “Manufactures Out of Stock” signs promptly.
Purchasing

Place orders with established suppliers to maintain appropriate in-stock level and inventory turns.

Participate in the selection of products with Directors, Coordinators and Merchandisers.

Monitor product movement to help determine which of the non-core products to carry and which to discontinue.

Receive orders as needed in accordance with established procedures.
-
Ensure accurate, up-to-date shelf tags and price labeling of department items.

Implement promotions, sales and new products provided by Directors, Coordinators and Merchandisers.
-
Communicate with Directors, Coordinators and Merchandisers the products that sell and what customers have requested.
Department Maintenance

Monitor state of equipment and inform Store Manager of problems or needs.

Maintain department area, bins and shelves in clean, orderly condition, meeting health department standards.

Organize and participate in inventory counts.

Maintain shrinkage and inventory records.

Outstanding customer service skills and interest in serving the public.

Knowledgeable of products and trends in the natural foods industry

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands.

Must have a strong work ethic and be able to work well both independently and with a team.
Requirements:

Ability to work various shifts including early morning, evenings and weekends.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
-
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
-
Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment.
-
Must be 18 years of age to operate equipment.
-
Willingness to work in varying temperature conditions including cold environments.
-
Able to understand written and spoken English.
-
Basic math skills required.

Pay range: $18.50 - $26.50 per hour
