SEAFOOD BUYER MANAGER
Purpose: To lead and ensure the Seafood Department operations run at optimal levels. Oversee the entire operation of the Seafood department to offer high quality products (seafood) at competitive prices to customers to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction
Status: Reports to General Manager

Responsibilities:

Monitors inventory control, orders, replenishes and merchandises seafood products. Replenishes products through proper buying procedures. Orders seafood products and maintains appropriate back stock levels. Ensures orders for product are timely and accurate to monitor inventory turns.

Ensures proper merchandising of displays. Organize and develop promotional displays as needed. Ensures accuracy of signs and pricing.

Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a courteous, friendly, timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques.

Analyzes and controls product transfers, waste, and spoilage. Controls spoilage/shrink; achieves turn goals; participates in inventory.

Maintains financial profitability by meeting and exceeding margin and sales goals.

Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.

Follows and complies, or ensures compliance, with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices. Maintains, or ensures maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintains equipment to ensure cleanliness and safety standards. Immediately reports safety hazards and violations.

Select and hire qualified candidates for the department. Manage employee tasks and duties. Schedule employees of the department. Train and develop employees. Oversee disciplinary and/or corrective measures for employees. Conduct employee performance reviews/evaluations; handle all related paperwork. Provide input and suggestions regarding employee promotions and raises. General department administration (other paperwork, forms, notices, announcements)

Qualifications:

Vast knowledge of seafood products and merchandising procedures.

Ability to work as a positive team member. Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers, vendors and staff.

Knowledge of city, state and federal regulations regarding food safety, and labeling.

Excellent communications skills--good listener, clear instructions.

Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments.

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands.

Supervisory experience--hiring, training, evaluating, directing.

Basic computer skills.

Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Able to stand for two or more hours at a time.

Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment.

Must be 18 or older to operate meat equipment.
