Location: Both stores

 

Purpose:  Transport produce from the Produce Wholesale Markets around the Bay Area to both Berkeley Bowl store locations. On occasion pull items from stock rooms, loading products into the vehicle, and then transporting those products to the intended destination safely.

Status:  Reports to Produce Director and Organic Manager Buyer.

​

Responsibilities:

1. Loading and unloading of goods onto our trucks and safe transit to and from our stores. Accountable for all goods loaded into the trucks. Must be able to properly identify and log all product handled.

2. Perform routine maintenance on assigned truck including scheduled maintenance and general cleanliness and appearance.

3. Pick-up and deliver produce at produce houses, warehouses for back haul to stores/warehouses.

4. Check, verify and quantify products received at the wholesale market, complete credit returns and participate in daily reconciliation of all received produce goods.

5. Operate delivery trucks safely and conform to DOT, CHP and CVC regulations, laws, codes and policies.

6. Assist other workers in loading and unloading products when warranted. Assist in other areas as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid U.S. driver's license issued by the state of legal residence with proper endorsements if required.

• No more than two convictions in the past two-year period for traffic violations, no DUI convictions in the past three years, and no driver's license suspensions in the past three years.

• Basic writing, reading and speaking skills.

• Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.

• Ability to follow directions and procedures.

• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands.  
   

REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to perform repeated, manual heavy lifting of items up to 80 pounds.

• Must be able to pass DOT physical (A class).

• Ability to bend, twist, squat and reach, as needed.

• Able to work in all weather conditions.

• Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment.

Pay range: $19.00 - $29.50 per hour
